Since 2006 we have built and maintained applications for companies in healthcare, e-commerce, education, government technology, construction, and more. Client names are kept confidential, but the work speaks for itself.
Long-term partnerships
Most of our work is ongoing. These two engagements have run the longest, and both are still active today.
Backend shipping, inventory, and warehouse management systems that power a high-volume e-commerce platform, including live rate quotes, address validation, label printing, and LTL freight pickups across UPS, USPS, and several freight carriers.
A twelve-year partnership. Much of the shipping work is now open source as the friendly_shipping Ruby gem.
E-commerce and integrationsA public website, content management system, detailed online hiring application, and customer support ticketing for a commercial and residential fire sprinkler company.
Maintained and extended for more than thirteen years, most recently upgraded to Rails 8 on Ruby 4.
Rails upgrades and maintenanceMore projects
A medical records tracking application used in hospital environments, followed by a Clinical Quality Measure calculation engine built for the product's EHR certification.
Five years of work across the initial build, certification requirements, and later expansion of the quality measure engine.
An online student planner with rich, interactive client-side behavior for a publisher of homeschool curriculum and resources.
An engagement that continued for about eight years.
Contributions to an Android event app and the Ruby on Rails backend that powered it.
An online magazine and a custom back-end content management system for the master government sales and marketing partner of a major design software company.
A social networking application that connects college-bound athletes, coaches, and fans for communication and recruiting.
A custom Rails application that helps people assess minor orthopedic injuries and fulfill prescriptions for orthopedic devices.
A redesign and new features for a job board, a storefront for a pharmaceutical research company, invoicing and research tracking for law firms, an asset management tool for city governments, an internal application for an insurance company, an overhaul of a mortgage certification site, and a conference registration system converted to Rails.
Our own products
Alongside client work we run Transcript Maker, a subscription web application for homeschool families and private schools, and we are launching Lesson Garden, a lesson planner for iPhone and iPad.
Open source
Some of our client work has been released as open source, including the friendly_shipping library for shipping carrier integrations. We also maintain auto-session-timeout for Rails.
